1978 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA Group 7

Group 7 consisted of three of the 32 teams entered into the European zone:[1] Czechoslovakia, Scotland, and Wales. These three teams competed on a home-and-away basis for two of the 8,5 spots in the final tournament allocated to the European zone, with the group's winner claiming those spots.

Standings

Rank Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD
1  Scotland 6430163+3
2  Czechoslovakia 44202462
3  Wales 24103341

Notes

  1. Only 31 of the entered teams actually competed in the qualification tournament: West Germany qualified for the World Cup automatically as defending champions.
  2. This match was played on neutral ground(Anfield) instead of in Wales because of crowd trouble at a European Championship quarter final match at Ninian Park between Wales and Yugoslavia the previous year.
