The 1986 Minnesota Vikings season was the franchise's 26th season in the National Football League The Vikings finished with a record of nine wins and seven losses.

After the sudden retirement of Bud Grant in the off-season, the Vikings hired Jerry Burns to be their head coach for the upcoming season.
