2014 royal tour of Australia
The 2014 royal tour of Australia by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and their son, Prince George, took place between 16 April and 25 April 2014. The tour saw the couple visit Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Uluru and Adelaide.
It was the first overseas tour undertaken by the Duke and Duchess with their infant son, Prince George.
Itinerary
- April 16 - Sydney, NSW - the Royal couple arrived at Sydney Airport on a RAAF jet and were greeted by Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, Prime Minister Tony Abbott and other dignitaries. Reception at the Sydney Opera House
- April 17 – Taronga Park Zoo - a bilby enclosure is named after Prince George; the Royal couple visited bushfire-affected areas in the Blue Mountains, and the Three Sisters
- April 18 - Sydney, NSW- attended the Sydney Royal Easter Show and Bear Cottage, and watched surf lifesavers in action at Manly Beach
- April 19 - Brisbane, Qld - visited the Royal Australian Air Force Base at Amberley, planted a tree in the base memorial garden and met veterans and families of service personnel killed in recent conflicts. The Royal couple arrived in Brisbane to attend a reception at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Returned to Sydney and made a surprise appearance at the Sydney Football Stadium[1]
- April 20 - Sydney, NSW - Easter Sunday church service at St Andrew's Cathedral
- April 21 - Canberra, ACT
- April 22 - Uluru, NT - met Indigenous artists[2]
- April 23 - Adelaide, SA – the Royal couple arrives at the RAAF Base Edinburgh, visit to Elizabeth, a suburb named after Queen Elizabeth II, meet young Australians at Northern Sound System, attend a civic reception at the Playford Civic Centre[3]
- April 24 - Canberra, ACT - Reception at Parliament House
- April 25 - Canberra, ACT - attend the Anzac Day march and commemorative service at the Australian War Memorial[4]
