2016 in Brazil sees Rio de Janeiro host the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics in August. This comes 2 years after Rio de Janeiro hosted the 2014 FIFA World Cup. 2016 will be Brazil's 115th season of competitive football and in international competition, it will see Brazil play qualification matches for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The incumbent President of Brazil is Dilma Rousseff , who is the 36th president of Brazil and in her 6th year in office. She was suspended on May 12 and removed from office on August 31. Vice president Michel Temer thus became the 37th president of Brazil.
