A. K. High School and College (Bengali: এ. কে. হাই স্কুল এন্ড কলেজ) is a secondary as well as higher-secondary school, located at Dania(near Jatrabari) under Shaympur Thana, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Every year a large number of students are getting admitted through entrance exam in this school. Md. Shamsul Islam sir is the principal in charge at present.[1]

In the Secondary School Certificate(SSC) exam, the school placed 6th on Dhaka board in 2009 and placed 7th on Dhaka board(9th in the country) in 2008. It also ranked 5th in Junior School Certificate exam or JSC in both 2010 & 2012.[2]

History

Ashkor Ali & Sheikh Kobbat Mia Building (A.k. school, main campus)

The school was established in 1971 and was named after two brothers, Ashkor Ali and Sheikh Kobbat Mia who are known as the founders of the school. In 1981 the students of this school attended in SSC exam for the first time and in 1995 the college department got their approval.[3]

The Institution has two campuses in two different locations. The Main(old) Branch & College campus is on the center of Dania, Dhaka-1236 and the New one is on South Dania which was being established in 2007. Main(old) branch has three five-storyed buildings whereas the other has one. The school area is furnished with good facilities for the students.

Academics

The School offers primary & secondary education. It also has HSC program(only for girls). Boys & Girls both can get their education from this institution, it's not Co-educational though. Two shifts are available. Girls attend to the Morning shift where Boys to the Day shift. But only girls are admitted to its college division.
