Abam

Abam is a clan situated at the Northern part of Abia State, Nigeria. It constitutes of six (6) autonomous communities. These autonomous communities is made up of 27 villages. The ancestral capital of Abam is Amaelu Abam village, which is the first settlement of the Great Onyerubi(the progenitor). Abam shares boundaries with Ohafia, Bende, Umuhu, Abiriba, and Ikporom. It is approximately 40 kilometers from the state capital. Abam people are known by their past and present heroic actions. They are reputed for the presence of warriors (Abam People in Politics, Ike Okorafor, 2013). This aspect of the Abam people remains fundamental to their sense of identity.
