Abhay Pratap Singh

Abhay Pratap Singh (7 December 1936 – 7 August 2013^[1]), also known as Bade Raja, was an Indian politician and Member of Parliament from the party Janata Dal. He represented 10th Loksabha of Pratapgarh constituency in Uttar Pradesh.^[2] His son Anil Pratap Singh is also a politician.

Life

Born in the royal family from the former jagir of Pratapgarh Estate. He was the eldest son of politician Ajit Pratap Singh and his first wife, princess Laxmi Devi.^[3] He was married on 1 March 1955 to princess Asha Kumari.

Career

Singh won the seat on a Janata Dal ticket and was elected as a member of parliament to represent Pratapgarh Lok Sabha constituency in 1991. He was the president of Pratap Bahadur P. G. College in Pratapgarh city.

In 1993 and 2007, his son Anil Pratap Singh, alias Anil Raja, stood in an assembly election for the Vishwanathganj constituency on an Indian National Congress Party ticket and lost the election.
