Acciaierie Bertoli Safau Spa (ABS) is the steelmaking division of the Danieli Group.
The company's headquarter is situated in Pozzuolo del Friuli (UD), ABS's largest productive site. Thanks to the company's avant-garde plants, they are able to produce long special steels, distributed to both Italian and international customers.
History
ABS was founded in 1988 after the merging of two historical steel organizations in Udine: the Officine Bertoli and the Ferriere & Acciaierie S.p.A of Udine. In the following decades the company created its niche in the market, by investing in innovative machineries, which have allowed ABS to diversify both processes and products.
Products and Markets
The special steels that ABS produces are: construction steels, forging steels, case hardening steels, hardening and tempering steels, bolt and nut steels, improved machinability steels, micro-alloyed steels, bearing steels, spring steels, creep resisting steels and nitriding steels.
ABS produces raw steel from continuous cast and ingots, rolled and peeled bars. In the productive site at Cargnacco (UD) there are three conticast strands, which cover a range from diameter 220 mm. to a record diameter of 850 mm. and a casting pit which allows ABS to produce a wide range of ingots. As regards rolling products, rounds range from 15 mm. to 500 mm. and squares from 40 mm. to 480 mm. thanks to Danieli’s new Rotoforgia plant (RF1800), inaugurated in autumn 2015.
