Admiral William Brown

"Admiral William Brown" is a song, written and first performed in 1982 by the Wolfe Tones. The song recounts the biography of Irish-Argentine naval hero William Brown and contains various strong denouncements of imperialism, colonialism and, more generally, the United Kingdom. During the Falklands War, the song achieved immense popularity in Ireland,[1] climbing to the number four spot in the Irish charts. In the United States, on WROL's "Irish Hit Parade," the song peaked at the top spot and the Wolfe Tones, the following year, performed it during the St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Pittsburgh.[2]
