Ahmed Danny Ramadan (born 1984) is a Syrian novelist, public speaker, columnist, and a gay refugee activist.[1] He was born in Damascus, Syria. He became a Syrian refugee and immigrated to Lebanon in 2012, before immigrating to Vancouver, Canada in September 2014.[2]

Ramadan was picked as the grand marshall for Vancouver Pride Festival 2016, for his work supporting LGBTQ-identifying refugees and newcomers.[3][4] He speaks publicly about issues related to gay Syrian refugees [5] and he writes a bi-weekly column on Daily Xtra.[6]

Ramadan translated the work of Saudi blogger Raif Badawi to English, released in 2015 by Greystone Books, titled 1000 Lashes: Because I Say What I Think. [7]

He published two short story collections in Arabic. His first novel in English, titled The Clothesline Swing,[8] will be released in May 2017 by Harbour Publishing.
