Akhmeta (Georgian: ახმეტა) is a town in the Kakheti province of Georgia and the administrative center of the Akhmeta municipality. It is near the river Alazani, 25 kilometres (16 mi) northwest of Telavi and 50 kilometres (31 mi) northeast of Tbilisi. It is the home of Zurab Zviadauri, gold medalist in judo.
