Alessia Almeri

Alessia Almeri, born Alessio Almeri, is an Italian transgender female volleyball player, playing as a libero. When she was 30 years old she became the first ever out transgender volleyball player when she made her debut for the Italian club Hermaea Olbia in March 2016. She plays with the club in the A2 serie, the second highest volleyball level in Italy. The club announced proud her debut at their website without indicating her previous gender. The international volleyball federations FIVB and CEV didn't have problems with transgender volleyball players.[1][2]
