The Algemene Waterschapspartij (English: General Water Board Party) is a political party in the Netherlands, which exclusively features in elections for Water boards.

Origin

The party was formed in 2007 in anticipation of the elections of Water Boards in 2008, when for the first time a party-based (rather than an individual based) election system was used.[3]

Representation

During the elections of 2008, the Party gained representation in 22 Water Boards with in total 32 seats.[2] The largest representations are at Water Board Aa en Maas en Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland with 3 seats.
