Amor Vittone (born 16 March 1972 as Amor Ines Vittone) is a South African singer.

Biography

Amor was born March 16, 1972 in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province of South Africa. [1]Amor was her high school's head girl where she excelled in sport and academically. She completed her Honours degree in Communication (cum laude) at the Rand Afrikaans University and is a former Miss Johannesburg. Amor won the South African Modern and Tap Dance championships for seven consecutive years. This talent of hers was put to good use in “West Side Story”, cast in the State Theatre in Pretoria, as well as Richard Loring's production “Girl Talk”.

Amor is married to former Springbok scrum-half Joost van der Westhuizen, who currently is suffering a battle against motor neuron disease. Currently Amor is a choreographer, MC, motivational speaker and singer. Amor acts tremendously positively and has the ability to inspire people in her audiences, the capacity to motivate and surrect people with her subtle charm and elegancy.

As a well known and cherished personality, Amor pictured on almost every magazine's front page in South Africa. This included: "Fair Lady", "Keur", Huisgenoot, "You", Sarie, "Finesse", FHM, "Insig", "Vroue Keur", "De Kat", "Tydskrif Rapport", "Sunday Times Magazine", "Personality", "Directions", "Longevity", Rooi Rose, "Die Lig", “Baba en Kleuter” and “Marie Claire”.

Musical achievements

Her debut album, “Wild Cherry Kisses” was released in 1998 through EMI. It was followed up with “Dance in Colours” and “Young Forever”. In February 2005 her fourth album, “Amor” was released by Gallo Music Record Company. Amor's first Afrikaans album, “Voluit” was released in September 2006 by Select Music.

This album reached gold status within 6 months (more than 20,000 units sold) and Amor was nominated for a SAMA award in the category Beste Afrikaanse Popalbum. She was the only female artist to get nominated in this category. The video of “Voluit Lewe” also received an accolade for the best Afrikaans DVD in May 2007 during the Afrikaans music awards ceremony in South Africa. Amor was also nominated for a “Crystal” award in the category "Hottest S.A. Artist" during June 2007.

At the "Huisgenoot Tempo-toekennings" Amor was nominated in the category favourite female artist and “Voluit Lewe” was nominated as favourite song of the year. Also at the Vonk Afrikaans music awards Amor got nominated as best female artist of 2007.

“Glo altyd aan more” was released during September 2009. This album contains exciting, brilliant soul lyrics and refreshing melodies. Amor is imaged as full of energy, joyfull and victorious and the album is founded on hope, positive energy and a tranquil lifestyle. Amor is currently busy recording her seventh album with Maroela Music.

Personal life

She got married on 20 October 2002 to the former Springbok rugby star Joost van der Westhuizen, but has since separated. They have a son and a daughter together.[2]
