Ampretur

AMPRETUR (the Mexican Association of Tourism Press) was created on June 1975, and is right now the only official organization of journalists and tourism writers in Mexico.

Created by the influence of former Mexican President Miguel Alemán Valdés, who suggested it was necessary to conform an organism of specialized journalists and writers on the tourism sector, AMPRETUR was founded in the year the first Tianguis Turístico was launched in Acapulco. In the same year the Universidad de Turismo y Ciencias Administrativas (UTCA, for the University of Tourism and Administrative Sciences) was inaugurated by Jorge Alemán Valdés, brother of ex-president Alemán.
