AngelHack

AngelHack is a global hackathon organization founded by Greg Gopman and Sabeen Ali in 2011.[1] AngelHack hosts an annual global hackathon competition where entrants compete to build, test, and launch new software solutions over the course of a weekend.

AngelHack also facilitates corporate hackathons and has partnered with organizations like Comcast-NBC Universal,[2] Hasbro,[3] IBM,[4] Hearst,[5] Cisco and MasterCard[6] to run themed events designed to prototype ideas.

AngelHack's community consists of approximately 97,000 members. [7] Currently, it is a female-owned, female-majority company.[8]

AngelHack HACKcelerator

AngelHack also runs the HACKcelerator,[9] a pre-accelerator program that provides mentorship to entrepreneurs and showcases companies to investors. Notable AngelHack HACKcelerator teams include WeFunder and Microryza,[10] both of which have been inducted to Y-Combinator.[11] Another HACKcelerator project, Waigo Translate, has been inducted into 500 Startups.[12] Two HACKcelerator graduates have been acquired by Google: SlickLogin[13] and Appetas.[14] Another team, Osper, was able to raise over $10 million in seed-funding. In 2015 AtumSoft secured their first $100,000 in funding from Lab360 and facetime with Y-Combinator.[15]

History

AngelHack was founded by Greg Gopman, Greg Osuri[16] and Sabeen Ali in 2011 in the Bay Area, California.

In 2014, Gopman stepped down as CEO after a suit was filed against him.[17]

Controversy

AngelHack co-founder Greg Gopman was criticized by the San Francisco media for a Facebook rant he made against the city's homeless.[18]
