"Another Love" is a song by British singer-songwriter Tom Odell, from his debut extended play, Songs from Another Love (2012). It is also the third single from Odell's debut studio album Long Way Down (2013). Originally released as a promotional single in October 2012, it was re-released in the United Kingdom as a digital download on 17 June 2013.

The song peaked at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart; the song also charted in Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands. It became Odell's first top 10 hit in the UK after it was placed at number 10 in the single chart on 29 June 2013.[1] The song was used in the episode "Do You Remember the First Time?" of season 6 of The CW series The Vampire Diaries.

Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "Another Love" was first released onto YouTube on 5 November 2012 at a total length of four minutes and eight seconds.[2] It depicts Odell sitting in an armchair in front of the camera as a girl attempts to get his attention. It ends with the girl seemingly leaving Odell.

The video has been released, called the "short film" version, for the song's American release. The video features actress Sarah Navratil.[3]

Critical reception

Writing for Digital Spy, Lewis Corner stated that the song "is mourning at its most hauntingly beautiful".[4]

Adaptations

"Another Love" was adapted by the Hungarian alternative rock band Zaporozsec under the title "Azon az éjszakán" with a large success, becoming number one hit on Petőfi Rádió's Top 30 for three weeks.[5][6][7] A music video was released onto YouTube on 2 February 2016 at a total length of three minutes and forty-eight seconds.[8]
