Anwar Ul Bayan

Tafsir Anwar ul Bayan is a five volume commentary (exegesis) on the Quran that was written by Mufti Muhammad Ashiq Ilahi Muhajir Madani. It was written in Urdu.[1]

Background about author

"Maulana Ashiq Ilahi al-Barni was one of the great contemporary scholars who passed away in Madina Munawwara where he stayed for almost two decades and dedicated his life to the teachings of Quran and sunnah. He also taught in various educational institutes and madaris in India and Pakistan."[2]

Features of Tafsir

Some features of this tafsir include: - Simple, straightforward, and easy to understand;

- Provides explanation of the Qur'an through the Qur'an, authentic hadiths, statements of the Sahaba, and the exegesis of the great Imams of tafsir;

- Completely avoids Israelite traditions;

- Asbab un Nuzool (explanation of the circumstances of revelation) have been duly explained, where applicable[3][4][5]

"It has been ably translated into English in South Africa by Maulana Ismail Ebrahim, and edited by Ismail Khathrada and Mufti Afzal Hoosen Elias."[6][7]

English translation is titled as "The Illuminating Discourses of the Noble Quran" [8]

Books is easily understandable for readers who do not know Arabic or Urdu language as complete review of translation was done before printing to remove or replace words from Arabic and Urdu to enable comprehension by English-speaking readers.[9]
