Appignano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Macerata in the Italian region Marche, located about 35 kilometres (22 mi) southwest of Ancona and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of Macerata. As of 28 February 2009, it had a population of 4,301 and an area of 22.7 square kilometres (8.8 sq mi).[1]

The municipality of Appignano contains the frazione (subdivision) Forano.

Appignano borders the following municipalities: Cingoli, Filottrano, Macerata, Montecassiano, Montefano, Treia.

Among the churches is the church of San Giovanni.
