Artem Janik Asatryan (Armenian: Արտեմ Ջանիկի Ասատրյան; born May 23, 1972 in Yerevan) was an Armenian Politician.

Biography

In 1979-1989, Asatryan finished secondary school № 194 in Yerevan with gold medal.

In the years 1989 to 1994, he graduated from Yerevan Institute of National Economy with qualification of an economist on specialization State Regulation of Economics.

In 1995-1997, he studied at the RA Public Administration Academy with public servant’s qualification on specialization State Governance and Local Self-Governance.

In 2000-2003, he attended the Postgraduate course at RA Public Administration Academy and the Economic Research Institute of Armenia and defended his thesis on the theme “The RA Social Security Key Issues in Poverty Reduction” and got his Academic Degree of Doctor in Economics.

He attended professional trainings at Harvard University (USA), the World Bank Institute, as well as in a group of educational institutions in Sweden, Poland, Austria, Israel, Bulgaria and Ukraine.

Artem Asatryan is the author of numerous scientific articles, analyses and research papers.

In 1998, he worked at the Armenian Pension and Employment Fund, Head of a Department. In the period from 1998-2006, Artem Asatryan became the Head of Pension Insurance and Social Security Department of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

From 2006 to 2007, he headed the National Institute of Labor and Social Research.

In 2007, Artem Asatryan was appointed Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, coordinating a number of strategic areas and starting from March 2011 he simultaneously headed the State Social Security Service.

Artem Asatryan also officiates the Management Board of Pension Reforms in Armenia. Various strategies, concepts, laws, government draft solutions and other documents providing Pension system reform implementation, the introduction of social security cards and personified registration system have been developed under his supervision.

In 1994-1995, he served in the RA Armed Forces.

Artem Asatryan was awarded the medal of Anania Shirakatsi by the RA President’s Decree for efficient service in the RA State Government System. He received Prime Minister’s Memorial Medal, numerous awards and certificates for effective management.

On May, 2004 he got the classification Grade of Counselor of the 1st class. On June 16, 2012 Artem Asatryan was appointed the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. He speaks Russian and English.

Artem Asatryan is a member of the Republican Party of Armenia.

Personal life

He is married and has 3 children.
