Barara is a town in Ambala, Haryana, India. It is 87 kilometres (54 mi) from the state capital, Chandigarh. Maharishi Markandey University is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Barara. Hindi, Punjabi, and Haryanvi are all well spoken and understood by people of Barara. Most of the population of Barara is rich. In 2015 Barara has been announced to come under municipal committee. Therefore, now there is "MUNICIPAL CORPORATION"" in Barara.

Barara is famous for its Dushehra mela. The world's tallest Ravan is burnt at Barara every year on the day of Dushehra. In 2016, the height of the Ravan was 210 feet.Barara is also home for Nigerian Iraqis and many other country people who lives here (Ravan of Barara Limca Book Of Records )^{[2] [3]}
