Bence Nanay

Bence Nanay is Professor of Philosophy and BOF[1] Research Professor at the University of Antwerp and has worked as a film critic. He is co-director of the Centre for Philosophical Psychology at the University of Antwerp and Senior Research Associate at Peterhouse, Cambridge University.[2][3][4][5]

Biography

Bence Nanay is Professor of Philosophy and BOF Research Professor at the University of Antwerp. He is co-director of the centre for Philosophical Psychology at the University His research focuses on philosophy of mind, philosophy of biology and aesthetics. His work is widely discussed in journals like Journal of Philosophy,[6] Philosophical Studies,[7] Analysis (journal),[8] Pacific Philosophical Quarterly,[9] Mind & Language,[10] Journal of Mind and Behavior,[11] Studies in the History and Philosophy of Science,[12] Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences and Philosophical Psychology.[13]

Nanay is the primary investigator of the Between Perception and Action project at the University of Antwerp, supported by a million euro grant from Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (FWO) (English: Flemish Research Foundation).[14][15]

He is the editor of The Monist's special issue on the philosophy of Robert Musil[16] and the editor on the centenary special issue on Heinrich Wölfflin in Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism.[17]

Nanay is also known for his work as a film critic.[18] He served as a jury member at a number of major film festivals, including the Chicago International Film Festival,[19] the San Francisco Film Festival,[20] the Miami International Film Festival and the Mar del Plata International Film Festival (Argentina).[21]
