Bergen Regional Medical Center is an acute and long term care hospital located in Paramus, New Jersey, USA. The hospital campus also consists of a nursing home and a mental health facility and was known for many years as Bergen Pines County Hospital. Due to the poor reputation, its name was changed to Bergen Regional Medical Center. The hospital is most known for its whistleblower lawsuit filed by former nurse Mary Louise Doyle. Allegations cited include children being thrown across rooms and restrained. In the adult ward, an anonymous allegation surfaced stating one female almost paralyzed by staff members after being jumped and ambushed during a forced 'medication' procedure which caused uncontrollable contortions and palsy-like symptoms. Despite the name change, the hospital's poor reputation remains intact.
