Beyond Sport is a global organisation that promotes, develops and supports the use of sport to create positive social change across the world. It brings together individuals and organizations that are already involved, or have a role to play, including NGOs, corporations, professional sports teams, leagues and athletes and governments.[1][2] Beyond Sport aims to support charities that use sport to help their communities.[3]

Beyond Sport Awards

The Beyond Sport Awards is an annual program that seeks to find the best projects across the world that use sport to address issues within their communities. Projects are then rewarded with funding and business support worth over $2 million annually. There are 12 categories for the Awards divided between Beyond Sport Community Awards, Corporation and Federations Awards and Judges Awards. Past winners include the AMANDLA EduFootball[4]Polar Defense Project, Coaches Across Continents, Open Fun Football Schools,[5] Football for Hope[6] and WASH United.[7]

Beyond Sport Summit

The annual Beyond Sport Summit and Awards bring together the best sport-led social innovators with influential, global leaders in sport, business and government to address sport's role in driving positive social change. Speakers have included Muhammad Ali and David Beckham.[8][9] The Award ceremony was held in London in 2009, Chicago in 2010 and Cape Town in 2011, London in July 2012, Philadelphia in 2013 and across various venues in Johannesburg in 2014.

Beyond Sport United

Beyond Sport United showcases how teams, their brands and their historic resonance have the profound ability to become hubs of positive influence and resource in their communities. Held in New York, at Yankee Stadium. Beyond Sport United is a unique annual event backed by Founding Supporters NBA, WNBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, NASCAR and MLS, returned to Yankee Stadium in 2014, to address the business advantages of engaging in community and social issues. With Beyond Sport United now established the event in 2014 focused on a key theme relevant to teams and leagues and community engagement. In the professional sport industry there are two key elements that can be addressed and improved through genuine community engagement:[10][11]

Beyond Sport Foundation

The Beyond Sport Foundation invests funding and business support in inspirational people and projects that use sport to create and drive positive social change in some of the most disadvantaged and excluded populations in the world. The Foundation has administered over $4 million worth of benefits to 76 organisations across more than 40 countries since 2009. Beyond Sport Ltd. covers all overheads for the Foundation and 100% of all individual donations to the Foundation to go directly to on-the-ground work.
