CCTV America is the American division of CCTV News, the English-language news channel run by Chinese state broadcaster China Central Television. It is based in Washington, DC and manages bureaus across North and South America. The service employs a mix of American, international and Chinese journalists and produces Americas-based programming with a focus on Asia for CCTV News.[1]
CCTV America is led by director general Ma Jing with veteran Asia journalist Jim Laurie as executive consultant.[2] It began broadcasting on February 6, 2012.[3]

"Our Mission: to provide English-speaking viewers everywhere a different way to see the world by simply covering more of it.CCTV America broadcasts news and talk programming from in its production facilities in Washington D.C., joining our headquarters in Beijing – and our sister broadcast center in Nairobi, Kenya – in providing a comprehensive as well as balanced view of the world in which we live."[4]

Programs
- Biz Asia America – Two hours of global news and analysis, is aimed at combining reporting of economic and financial issues in North and South America with those from China and the Asian region. Anchored by Phillip Yin from CCTV America's studios in Washington, DC and a Michelle Makori from a New York studio at NASDAQ. Airs Monday-Friday 8:00 PM to 10:00 pm US Eastern time. As of the last week of September 2013, Biz Asia America is airing only one hour during the 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM time slot. The first hour of the program is replaced by an hour of General News.[6]
- The Heat – Weekly news and current affairs show that features often heated discussions on global affairs. Airs Saturdays 8:30 PM US Eastern time[4]
- Americas Now – CCTV's premiere news magazine broadcast, features original reporting throughout the Americas. The program was developed and launched by Senior Producer Barbara Dury. Ms. Dury is a multi-award winning 60 Minutes producer and International Senior Journalism Adviser. Americas Now airs Sundays 8:30 PM US Eastern Time.
- General News - Breaking news from around the world – with special emphasis on North and South America. Airs Saturdays and Sundays at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM US Eastern time. Starting in late September 2013, General News airs from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM US Eastern time on weekdays replacing the first hour of Biz Asia America.[4]
CCTV America programs can be seen in North America at 8:00 PM US Eastern time on COMCAST Channel 273 and COX Channel 472 in the greater Washington area; on Time Warner Channel 134 in New York; on Charter Cable Channel 562 in Los Angeles; and nationwide on DISH TV channel 279. They are broadcast on the MHz Networks.
