Cabinet of Architecture

Cabinet of Architecture (Kabinet architektury) in Ostrava was founded in 2009.

In 2009, SPOK (The Society for Culture in Ostrava / 2002–2013), together with GVUO (Gallery of Fine Art in Ostrava), which provided necessary exhibition space and logistical support for architectural exhibitions, founded the Cabinet of Architecture in the attic space of the Ostrava House of Art. Almost every exhibition at the Cabinet of Architecture is accompanied by the publication of a richly illustrated catalogue, forming an edition of book titles.[1]

Many of the Cabinet of Architecture exhibitions were further presented in Czech cities such as Brno, Kutná Hora, Litomyšl, Prague, and also abroad, including the Polish cities of Wrocław, Glivice, Katovice, and the Slovak cities of Bratislava and Poprad.

In 2011 Cabinet of Architecture were accepted into the International Confederation of Architectural Museums (ICAM) organisation; at present, the only representative in the Czech Republic of this prestigious organisation bringing together important institutions, galleries and museums from all over the world, aimed at the presentation and popularisation of themes connected with architecture.[2]
