Caherduff Castle /kæhərˈd̪uː/[1] is a tower house and National Monument located in Achill Island, Ireland.[2]

Location

Caherduff Castle is located north of Lough Corrib, 2.1 km (1.3 mi) northwest of Cross, County Mayo.

History

The townland takes its name from the Irish for "black fort."[3]

Caherduff Castle was acquired by the state in 1918.[4]
