Campbell Claye Grant Ross

General Sir Campbell Claye Grant Ross K.C.B. (1824 - 1892) was an officer in the British Indian Army.[1]

His parents were Lt Col Hugh Ross and Eliza Watson and he was born in India.

He fought in the Jowaki Expedition.

In 1856 he married Matilda Elderton, daughter of M. E. Elderton - they had ten children, the eldest of whom was the physician Ronald Ross.

He was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 1877 Birthday Honours, at which time he was in the Bengal Staff Corps, and later rose to Knight Commander of that order.[2]

He died 20 June 1892 in Eastbourne.
