Carol Ann Tomlinson is an American educator, author and speaker. She is known for her work with techniques of differentiation in education. Tomlinson is a reviewer for eight journals and has authored over 200 articles, books, and other professional development materials.

Her books on differentiation, translated into twelve languages, include How to Differentiate Instruction in a Mixed Ability Classroom, The Differentiated Classroom: Responding to the Needs of All Learners, and Leadership for Differentiated Schools and Classrooms. She has recently co-authored a book with noted educational expert Jay McTighe titled Integrating Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design: Connecting Content and Kids. [1]
