Catriona Elisa Gray[fn 1] (born January 6, 1994) is an Australian-Filipino TV Host, singer, model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss World Philippines 2016. She will represent the Philippines at Miss World 2016 pageant.
Personal life
Gray was born in Cairns to an Australian father, Ian Gray, and a Filipino mother from Oas, Albay, Normita Ragas Magnayon.
In 2007 she was a finalist in the Girlfriend Magazine modelling competition in Australia, subsequently Gray signed with a major modelling agent in Australia that opened doors for her modelling career in Asia. The said competition has discovered a number of top models (Alyssa Sutherland, Catherine McNeil, Samantha Harris and Abbey Lee Kershaw) and Hollywood stars (Ruby Rose, Lucy Fry).
After finishing high school studies in Australia, she made the decision to move to Manila, Philippines, where she immediately gained popularity as one of the most celebrated and sought-after models in the country. Within a few months of arriving in Manila, and still just 18, she was featured as one of Cosmo magazine's eight sexiest models in the Philippines.
Also featured among the eight sexiest models by Cosmo in 2012 was Valerie Weigmann, who like Gray is half-Filipino and had just arrived in Manila (from Germany where she was born and educated). The two best friends share the same agent in Manila and Valerie represented the Philippines in Miss World 2014 placing in the Top 25 semifinalists.
Gray has been in a long-term relationship with German-Filipino model Clint Bondad.
She has a Masters Certificate in Music Theory from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She also plays the guitar and has a black belt in Choi Kwang Do.
Pageantry
Miss World Philippines 2016
On October 2 2016, Gray was crowned Miss World Philippines 2016 and will now compete at Miss World 2016 pageant to be held in the United States. She also won Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown and Runway Awards.[3]
Miss World 2016
Gray will represent the Philippines at Miss World 2016 wherein Mireia Lalaguna of Spain will be crowning her successor at the end of the event.
