Celina Midelfart (born 12 February 1973) is a Norwegian businesswoman, cosmetics heiress and socialite. She lives in Belgravia, London.[1]

Background and career

She is a daughter of the businessman Finn-Erik Midelfart (1943–95) and Hermine Kristin née Muhle (born 1944), and is a step-daughter of the real estate investor Nikolai Paus, a member of the noted Paus family. She belongs to the patrician Midelfart business family, whose name is derived from Middelfart in Denmark; the name consists of the old Danish word mæthal meaning "middle" and far meaning "way" (i.e. "middle way;" the English cognate would be "middlefare").[2] "Fart" in modern Danish and Norwegian usually means "journey." She is a patrilineal descendant of Hans Christian Ulrik Midelfart, a signatory of the Norwegian constitution. Her mother shared a flat with David Bowie in South Kensington in the 1960s.[3]

She has been one of the owners of her family's cosmetics group, Midelfart & Co., since 1995. The company was founded by her great-grandfather Ole Midelfart in 1923. She is also a member of the board of directors of several other companies, including Marine Harvest. She owns Midelfart Capital and is chairwoman of Midelfart Holding.[4]

Personal life

In 1993 she was the girlfriend of Haakon, Crown Prince of Norway, the heir to the throne of Norway.[5] She has also dated billionaires Kjell Inge Røkke, Ole Robert Reitan and Petter Stordalen.[6]

She became acquainted with Donald Trump when living in New York City in 1998 and was reported to be dating him. She was the date whom Trump was with when he met his current wife Melania at a party in 1998. In a 2008 interview Trump said Midelfart is "a wonderful person and businesswoman."[7][8]

In 2009 Midelfart became engaged to business magnate Tor Olav Trøim, widely described as the long-time right-hand man of shipping magnate John Fredriksen, and they subsequently married. In 2011 she gave birth to their first child.[4] The couple lived at Frogner in Oslo before moving to Belgravia in London in 2012.[1]
