Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (also called CTU) is the Public Transport unit of the Chandigarh administration in India. It is managed by Home Secretary, who also acts as Transport secretory and director.[1] It operates a mixed fleet of AC, non AC, mini, midi and Corona low floor buses, almost all the busses have digital display and the routes, time of arrrival and stops of the CTU busses can be found in CTU Bus Guide app for Android phones.

History

It came into existence in 1966 with 30 Buses.

As of 2011, CTU has 517 buses, out of which 209 buses serves chandigarh region whereas remaining are interstate covering Punjab, Himachal, Uttar Pradesh, Uttranchal, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. CTU have 117 Semi Low floor passenger friendly Buses of Bharat-II Euro norms.

CTU have lowest Staff ratio per Bus compare to other Bus Transport throughout India. They have various applications running on WWW related to Bus Ticketing Accounts system, GPF Maintenance, Salaries, Allowances etc. In Chandigarh, CTU buses follows Grid Transport System to reduce traveling time.
