Chasing Madoff is a 2011 documentary film written and directed by Jeff Prosserman. The film is based on the book by Harry Markopolos.
Content summary
The film chronicles how Harry Markopolos and his associates spent ten years of investigation in an attempt to expose Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme, which scammed an estimated $18 billion from investors.
The systemic problems exposed in the movie have not changed. Indeed, it is far harder for a fraud victim to prevail. In 2009, the Supreme Court required a plaintiff to establish his claim before any disclosure is required by the defendant. Labels and conclusions" and "a formulaic recitation of the elements of a cause of action" will not suffice.[3] Thus, correct statements about fraud, when not supported by appropriate documentation, will lead to a dismissal of the claim. Absent supporting documentation, the culprit is presumed to be telling the truth and the victim to be lying or mistaken.

Based on 15 critic reviews (5 positive, 7 mixed and 3 negative) Chasing Madoff received a Metascore of 51 out of 100 on Metacritic.[5] Entertainment Weekly gave the film a B+ rating.[2]
