Chaukalshi

Chaukalshi(kshatriya/SKP) is an ethnic community of Maharashtra and Goa.

They are related to Panchkalshi community and are involved in occupation of Mali, carpenter, herdsman and also Prabhus. In social hierarchy they are considered equal to Panchkalshi.[1] They are one of the original tribes, who migrated to Bombay in the 13th century AD with Yaduvanshi king, Raja Bhimdev

Somvanshi Chaukalshi Kshatriya's arrived with King Bhimdev, who established his base in Mumbai in the 13th century. During his reign he is also supposed to have brought Pathare Prabhus, Palshis, Pachkalshis, Vadvals, Bhois, Agris and Brahmins to Mumbai. Chaukalshi community is spread all over Konkan region (Mumbai - Thane - Vasai Virar- Alibaug - Nandgaon Murud - Shriwardahn - Ratnagiri - Goa).
