The Church of Christ was the original name of the Latter Day Saint movement church founded by Joseph Smith. Organized informally in 1829 in northwestern New York and then as a legal entity on April 6, 1830. Later names for this organization include, the Church of the Latter Day Saints, the Church of Jesus Christ, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, this church and its resulting schism should not be confused with other non–Latter Day Saint Church of Christ denominations.

- Pure Church of Christ - First schismatic sect in the Latter Day Saint movement, this denomination was organized in 1831 in Kirtland, Ohio, by Wycam Clark and Northrop Sweet.
- Church of Christ (Ezra Booth) - This denomination was organized in 1836 by Ezra Booth in Kirtland, Ohio.
- Church of Christ (Warren Parrish) - This denomination was organized in 1837 by Warren Parrish in Kirtland, Ohio.
- Church of Christ (William Chubby) - This denomination was organized in the Late 1830s by William Chubby in order to establish a "special mission of ministering to African Americans".
- Church of Christ (Hiram Page) - This denomination was organized in 1842 by Hiram Page, one of the Eight Witnesses to the Book of Mormon's golden plates.
