Cloudnine Hospitals is a leading chain of maternity and childcare hospitals headquartered in Bangalore, India. It was founded by the neonatologist Dr. R. Kishore in 2007.[1] Cloudnine Hospitals, currently operates in the cities Bengaluru,[2] Chennai, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Pune,[3] and has more than 30,000 deliveries to its credit. In addition to maternal care, Cloudnine also provides Gynecology, Pediatrics, Intensive Care, Fertility and Neonatal Care services.[4]

History

In 2007, the neonatologist R Kishore Kumar along with his team of three co-founders decided to set up Cloudnine Hospital with the aim of focusing on providing quality newborn care. In May 2011, Matrix Partners approached the firm and invested INR 45 crore with Cloudnine.[5][6] Today, it has several facilities across India, which is a joint venture of the Kids Clinic (Bangalore) Private Limited, owned by Dr. Kishore Kumar, and Scrips N Scrolls India, a company into property development and investments.

Expansion

Cloudnine has approximately 15 hospitals across five cities – Bengaluru [7] (11 centers), Mumbai [8] (1 center), Chennai,[9] (1 center), Pune [10](1 center) and Gurgaon [11] (1 center). These hospitals have the capacity to handle about 750 births per month with an average expenditure between INR 60,000 and INR 70,000.[12]

The company has raised about INR 550 crore from investor houses, including Matrix Partners, Sequoia, and India Value Fund Advisors (IVFA).[13]
