Coon Rapids High School is a high school located at 2340 Northdale Boulevard Coon Rapids, Minnesota, United States. The building opened for classes in the 1962-1963 school year. As of 2011 Coon Rapids High School had an enrollment of about 2800 students in grades nine through twelve. The school also participates in the University of Minnesota's College in the Schools program.[1]

Overview

Coon Rapids High School is located near the Mississippi River 15 miles north of Minneapolis. The city of Coon Rapids boasts more than 60,000 residents and is part of the Anoka Hennepin School District 11. The school offers advanced placement, honors, and standard courses.

Academic Program[2]

Anoka-Hennepin high schools have a five-period day structure with three trimesters per school year. Coon Rapids High school provides more than 200 courses and electives, which are outlined in the registration guide. Courses that are two trimesters in duration are worth one full credit, one trimester courses are worth one half credit. To graduate, students must pass all required courses and earn passing marks in state tests required for graduation. Students have several opportunities to take and pass state required tests. Grading is a 4.0 scale, with weighted grades awarded to students who earn "B-" or better in honors or selected advanced courses. In addition, high schools offer Advanced Placement, College In the Schools (CIS), and Tech Prep courses.

Cardinal Pride is being proud to be a part of Coon Rapids High School and the Coon Rapids community and living it out through your actions. It means doing things the right way even when the right way isn’t always the popular or easy way. Cardinal Pride is believing in what you do and how you do it.

Preschool program

The school has a preschool, run by the Anoka-Hennepin Community Education Department, that enrolls 3-5 year-olds. This program is known as the school readiness program where kids have large group activities, and different learning centers like blocks, computers, games, and art.

Also known as 'Students Helping Students'. Link Crew is a program that has members of the Senior class offer help and advise to the new Freshmen. They meet with the Freshmen once a month to answer any questions that they may have.
