Da YoungFellaz is an American hip hop duo from the Bronx and Brooklyn, NY, formed by Bronx native Johnny "Jay Storm" Aguiar and Brooklyn-born Brett "Sho-Biz" Officer, in 2009. The group was first introduced in 2013 on the Spellemannprisen Award Winning album Supersonic Pulse^[1] by Ralph Myerz. Since the release, Da YoungFellaz have signed to EMPIRE Distribution through their imprint New Rich Entertainment. On January 8, 2016, the group released the single Do the Damn Thang^[2] featuring Snoop Dogg, George Clinton & Nipsey Hussle.

Biography

Early life

Da YoungFellaz first met in High School, Sho-Biz who is of African American descent, was born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn but would eventually move with his father in the Bronx where he attended St. Raymond's High School for Boys. During his time there he met Jay Storm, who is a first-generation Dominican American from the Soundview section of The Bronx; and the two instantly began working on music together. They would both eventually leave St. Raymond's and graduate from different high schools, but would keep in contact and continue working on music together.

Career

In 2009, the group released their first mixtape Back 2 Da Basiks which would get to the hands of Ralph Myerz through mutual friends while on tour with his band. By early 2010, Ralph had flown to New York to meet with the group and Da YoungFellaz found themselves in the studio working on his 6th studio album, Supersonic Pulse. In February 2011, Da YoungFellaz performed at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships,^[3] the event included a number of performers from Scandinavia and Europe, and was presented on the NRK network.^[4] Ralph Myerz released Supersonic Pulse on two separate dates, in Europe on June 3, 2013 with Sony Music Entertainment Norway, and September 16, 2013 with Disco Piñata Records. On January 18, 2014, the album won best Electronic/Dance album at the 2013 Spellemannprisen Awards, often noted as the Norwegian Grammy Awards. The group has released several independent mixtapes over the years and by June 2014, Da YoungFellaz and their company New Rich Entertainment signed to Ghazi Shami's EMPIRE Distribution. EMPIRE released Do the Damn Thang^[5] featuring Snoop Dogg, George Clinton and Nipsey Hussle as their first official single on January 8, 2016.
