Daniel Rosendo Alves Gonçalves (Albufeira, 30 Dezembro 1982) is a Portuguese football manager. Until the final of 2013, Daniel was responsible for the technical observation and analysis for the Professional Football Team of Sporting Clube de Portugal. Daniel Gonçalves is currently the assistant manager of Real Cartagena from Colombia.[1]

Biography

At 10 years of age Gonçalves started playing football at the youth of Futebol Clube de Ferreiras and stayed at his birthplace club during youth and for 3 years as a senior football player.

During this time Daniel studied and in 2003 he started the degree in Sports Sciences - Sports Training / Football Specialized at Escola Superior de Rio Maior with the final work at Defensive Organization from professional league coaches where there are interviews with several professional coaches such as Paulo Bento, Mariano Barreto, Diamantino Miranda e Luís Martins.

As a coach Daniel start as assistant (with Pedro Moreira) at Sporting Clube Farense. Daniel made his internship at Sport Lisboa e Benfica youth school (with Fonte Santana as coordinator) at U-12 team in 2005/2006 season. After this he start working at Sporting Clube de Portugal youth school as assistant coach from 2006 until 2009 and as a principal coach during the seasons 2009/2010 and 2010/2011. During his years at Sporting schools he was also responsible for Scouting of players.

In 2011/2012 season started work at Sporting Clube de Portugal Professional Team as Technical Observation and Analysis, where he could develop his skills working with several remarkable coaches such as: Domingos Paciência, Ricardo Sá Pinto, Jorge Castelo, Oceano Cruz, Franky Vercauteren, Rui Sampaio, Jesualdo Ferreira e José Dominguez. As a technical observation in during this 2 seasons also developed specific material for goalkeeper coach of Sporting, Nélson Pereira.

In the final of 2013, Daniel was invited by José Dominguez to be part of his new technical team, as assistant manager, at Real Cartagena from the Colombian League.[2]
