Dario Coates (born 25 April 1992, Hebden Bridge) is an English actor. He has so far portrayed the role of Alex Neeson in the television ITV soap Coronation Street.[1][2] He attended Calder High School, where he studied for his GCSEs and A Levels, and also attends Calderdale Theatre School. His last role was Lord Asriel in Calderdale Theatre School's production of the Phillip Pullman novels His Dark Materials for which he received a roaring review from the local newspaper.[3] He auditioned for Coronation Street in November 2007 and he told his local newspaper, "I've always wanted to be an actor, but I never dreamed that I would get a part on TV at this stage. It is going to be really exciting and very good experience."

Despite the on-screen conflict between Ryan Connor (portrayed by Ben Thompson) and Alex Neeson, Coates and Thompson became good friends during the filming of Coronation Street.

He is soon to star in the Calder High 'Pace egg' as the king of Egypt. Now in 2010 he is playing the lead role of St George in Calder High's pace egg.

As of September 2010. Dario started the 3 year acting BA at Itaila Conti Drama School.

In 2016 he appeared in the BBC series The Coroner episode 2.4 "The Beast of Lighthaven" as Ben Fairhead
