Darling Cabaret
Darling Cabaret is the largest cabaret in the Czech Republic which is situated in the centre of Prague near Wenceslas square at the street Ve Smeckach. It was founded in 2000. It leans on a long history and now is the only one existing cabaret with everyday program. Guests can enjoy traditional can-can, various acrobatic shows, show with a snake or Brazilian Carneval and of course traditional pole dance.
History
Back to the XXth century there were several cabarets in Prague but due to unfavourable political situation and whole unpleasant atmosphere they were closed fast. Can-can and other cabaret shows remained for a while in the Czech Republic a thing which you can only see on the television or read about it in books.
And in the meantime there was completely opposite situation around the world. Cabarets abroad survived through hard times and one of the most famous cabarets the Moulin Rouge is still working now. And exactly the Moulin Rouge was the inspiration to renew cabaret show in the Czech Republic.
The founder of the Darling Cabaret was travelling around the world for years and was exploring both wide-known and small local cabarets.
He was looking for the inspiration to renovate cabaret shows in the Czech Republic. In 2000 he succeeded in returning cabaret exactly to the heart of Prague. Finally since then you can hear well-known can-can melodies around the centre and exotic dancers in erotic costumes are still performing in front of the guests from all over the world.
The Darling Cabaret joined the TOP 10 world cabarets in 2010.[1]
In 2015 it won in the competition “Sexist piggy” for its advertisement placed in men restrooms in bars or restaurants around Prague.
Ballet team
Ballet team “Darling Ballet” was founded in 2005. A lot of young and talented professional dancers from the whole republic have changed here during the time it is existing. Now there are 12 members who’ve competed and deserved the place into the company because they have proved they’re really the best from the best. They are dancers who were performing in the National Theatre, State Opera or Laterna Magica and other theatres all over the world. Germany, France, Japan… These are only few countries where Darling Ballet Dancers have performed. Some of them still participate in musicals and are always called to take part in the largest shows in the National Theatre.
Darling Ballet team’s choreographer is Slavek Semotam. He is a graduater from the ballet conservatory and later he has become a teacher there. He managed to give lectures not only in the Czech republic but all over the world and was co-operating with ballet schools in France and Germany. He also performed as a director of several movies and theatre performances.
Darling Ballet, its choreography and costumes are the inspiration for many companies and creators all over the art world. Darling ballet team has its own costumes which are borrowed for fashion shows and theatre perfomances around Europe. Ballet team including its costumes and choreography was seen for example at the ball for Prague City Hall. Another proof of its high quality is the fact that has many co-operation offers every year.
