Dave Askren is an American guitarist and educator.

Musical career

Askren graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston.[1] Soon after graduation he was hired to teach guitar at Berklee College.

Askren is a jazz recording artist and has also worked as a sideman with a variety of jazz/Latin jazz/instrumental artists, including Bob Moses, Antonio Hart, Delfeayo Marsalis, Hendrik Muerkins, Stuart Hamm, Bruce Arnold, Bobby Shew, Rhubumba, Sal Cracciolo, Jimmy Branly, Ramon Banda, Eddie Resto, Joey De Leon, Jr., David King, Reid Anderson, Ben Schacter, Gray Sargent, Kevin Eubanks, Gary Foster, Wire Choir, Mike Vax, as well as commercial artists such as Marilyn McCoo, Latoya Jackson, Linda Hopkins, Little Anthony, The Coasters, The Platters, The Diamonds, The Drifters, The Marvelettes, Brenton Wood, and Kenny Hamber.[2]

He lives in Los Angeles[3] and teaches guitar at California State University, Los Angeles.[4]
