Dean Dalla Valle

Dean Dalla Valle is a senior executive and career mining professional employed by BHP Billiton. As of 2014, he is currently the head of the company's global coal operations with 37 years of industry experience. He was appointed president of coal after six years based in Adelaide where he managed the Olympic Dam copper, gold and uranium mine. Dalla Valle began his mining career in underground coal mining in the Illawarra region of New South Wales as a 17 year old electrician's apprentice.[1] After twenty years in coal he moved to the Pilbara region of Western Australia where he managed the company's iron ore sector.[2] Other positions Dalla Valle has held within BHP Billiton include president of the Cannington silver mine in Queensland and president of uranium.[3]

Board memberships

Dean Dalla Valle was appointed to the board of the South Australian Museum in 2011[4] and resigned in December 2012.[5]
