Denzil Franco (born 1986 in Saligao in Goa) is an Indian football player who plays for FC Goa in the Indian Super League.[1]

Career

Youth career

Denzil is a product of the Sesa FA where he was felicitated for being India's outstanding player after graduating from the Academy. Denzil did his schooling in Lourdes Convent before moving onto to St Anthony's HS Monte de Guirim where he was trained by Saligao legend, Francis D'Souza. His parents are Avelina & Joe Franco.

He has represented India at India U19 level and at senior level competing in events in Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Portugal, Maldives, Malaysia, Qatar, UAE and Sri Lanka.[2]

Career

Franco was signed by Salgaocar F.c ,He was later signed for Mahindra United Franco transferred from disbanded Mahindra United to Churchill Brothers during the transfer window before the 2010–11 I-League season. His first season with Churchill though was hampered with injuries so he only was able to play in eight games throughout his first season with the club, but when he did come on his play impressed many people and he still was able to earn a national team call up.

on 2014 Denzil signed for Isl team Atletico de Kolkata.He played for them in Season 2014 and 2015

F.C Goa

Denzil signed for Isl team F.C Goa for 2016 Isl season.

International

Franco made his international debut for India against Pakistan on March 23, 2011 coming on as a substitute for Gouramangi Singh. India won against Pakistan 3–1. He then started for India in his second match for them against Turkmenistan on March 25, 2011, the match ended in a 1–1 draw.
