dr^k magazine is an illustrated monthly, international free internet magazine concentrating on the contemporary art world, including video interviews of artists and genres, updates about art movements, show reviews and theory writings. It is designed for artists, dealers, art professionals, but most importantly to new publics interested in all aspects of creativity and contemporary art. The magazine includes extensive coverage and criticism of sculpture, painting, video, installation, performance, net art and photography.

History

Published since 2012, drik magazine covers the visual art world, both in Latin America, North America, Middle East, some European countries and abroad, with a concentration on Mexico City, New York City, Vienna, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the global contemporary art scene. Their editorial team explores the contemporary art world, bringing their readers a 360 degrees perspective on the Art scene through engaging critical essays and profiled to thoroughly cover every angle of contemporary art today.

The magazine takes its readers into the studio with artists for exclusive behind the scenes video interviews. drik magazine seeks to provide artists a venue to express themselves with a clear voice, as well as a space to non-artistic public to understand and approach contemporary arts on a more friendly way.

About

drik magazine began as a collaborative project on 2011 between students of the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda" and the Universidad Iberoamericana, having as their overall goal, to raise the profile of major players in the world of contemporary art and to encourage creativity on Spanish speaking countries. The magazine is free of publicity and all their content is licensed under creative commons. The main office is located in Mexico City.

Interviewed Artists

drik magazine has recorded interviews with artists, critics, and curators from Mexico, USA, Uruguay, Peru, Cuba, Costa Rica, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Germany, and Greece. Since number 3, seasons are separated into episodes by themes. Each theme showcases artists that fit into that niche in some fashion.

drik talks

On November 14, 2012, drik magazine and Possibleworlds began an online cultural program named drik talks which features live conversations between contemporary artists and/or critics. The program was opened by a conversation between Mariana Botey, Luis Camnitzer and Fran Ilich.

drik docs

On March 8, 2013, drik magazine's archives went public under the name of drik docs. The website holds the complete interviews with artists from drik magazine, as well as exclusive audio and video recordings with contemporary artists and/or critics. drik docs also works as a display for all of drik projects, and free documents or publications of contemporary art.
