Drumblade

Drumblade is a hamlet[1] in north-western Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is also the name of the parish.

It is 4¾ miles from the town of Huntly.[2]

Schools

Drumblade Primary School is a primary school with a nursery unit, and a total roll of 53 as of 2013.[3] It is a feeder school for The Gordon Schools, Huntly.[4] It made the national news in 2012 when its pet ducks disappeared, presumed stolen.[5]

History

Drumblade Stone Circle, or Ston(e)yfield, is the remains of an ancient stone circle. It is about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) east of Huntly.[6]Coordinates: 57°25′38″N 2°41′09″W / 57.4271°N 2.6857°W / 57.4271; -2.6857

Drumblade is the site of the Battle of Slioch in December 1307,[7] involving Robert the Bruce.
