El Daein, also spelled Ad Du'ayn, Ad Da `en, Ed Da` ein, Ed Da'ein, (Arabic: الضعين) is a city located in south-western Sudan at an altitude of 1476 feet (449 meters) above sea level. It lies about 831 km from Khartoum, and has population of about three hundred thousand people.

El Daein is the capital of East Darfur State, and is Located at the crossroads between the states of Darfur and the capital, Khartoum, and between them and the states of Kordofan in central Sudan.

Distance from El Daein to Nyala City, South Darfur State, accounts 157.4 kilometres, and 180.6 km to al-Mijlad in South Kordofan state.

Transports

The city is linked by rail to Khartoum in the east and Nyala city to the west, and it is a center of local trade in wheat, peanuts, barley, and livestock. The city is served by the Ed Daein Airport (IATA: ADV).
