Eleanor Sleath

Eleanor Sleath was an English novelist, best known for 1798 gothic novel, The Orphan of the Rhine, listed as one of the seven "horrid novels" by Jane Austen in her novel Northanger Abbey.[1]

Very little is known of her life.[2] She is mentioned in the Biographical Dictionary of Living Authors, published in 1816, but there is merely a list of her works.[2]
