Eman Karam Sayed Abdel Ghaffar

Eman Abdelghaffar (Arabic: ايمان عبد الغفار) is an United Nations- International Civil servant officer. She is the focal point for geospatial information management in emergencies and vulnerability analysis. Her experience is mainly supporting decision-making and planning using GIS and data analysis, especially in the field of emergencies, environment and urban health.[1] Besides her engineering and earth observation degrees, she has a doctorate in public health. She is one among the first 50 pioneers in GIS in Egypt and the Arab region, according to the ITI graduates' records. She is also the first public health scientist with a multidisciplinary background.

Education

Abdelghaffar graduated in the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.[2] She studied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at the Information Technology Institute (ITI) in Giza. Later on, she studied geoinformation management for urban planning, and obtained her MSc. degree with distinction in University of Twente. That was followed by a PhD in social determinants of public health.
