Engineer Mohammed Bashir Karaye Prize for Hausa Writing

The Engineer Mohammed Bashir Karaye Prize for Hausa Writing is a Nigerian literature prize given to authors who publish in the Hausa language. Founded in 2007 by the widow of the prize's namesake, the Karaye Prize is funded by the Bashir Karaye Foundation and administered by the Association of Nigerian Authors, Abuja Chapter [1]

In 2009, the prize was split into two categories, one for prose and one for drama. The total prize money was N600,000 (Nigerian Naira), with the winner in each category taking N150,000, and the two runners up taking N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.[2]

In the future a category for poetry has been promised.[3]
